Hello from Friends of Swift! We hope everyone had a wonderful and spooky Halloween. Read on for updates about opportunities to connect and support the Swift community. As always, we appreciate your donations to support, enhance, and build the school community at George B. Swift Specialty School.

UPCOMING EVENTS
Friends of Swift is organizing a fundraiser with Metropolis Coffee for the holiday season! Metropolis will generously donate over half the sales to Friends of Swift to support our school community. Please look for order forms going home with the kids the week of November 6. Forms will be due November 27, and the order will come in time for holiday gifts. Grab a coffee with Friends of Swift!

Looking ahead, Friends of Swift will host another movie night for the whole school on December 15. Mark your calendars!

UPDATES
We are recruiting members for the Friends of Swift board! Board meetings are the last Tuesday of every month at 7:30 PM. If you would like to help support our mission as a member of the board, or just to get more information about whether you might want to be involved, send us an email at friendsofswift@gmail.com.
 
Our October movie night raised over $100 for the Swift community. Thank you to all who attended!
 
Finally, Friends of Swift was happy to bring back the fall potluck in September before the weather turned wintry. Thank you to everyone who brought food and a good time. Pictures below!

Hello from Friends of Swift!

This is our first newsletter in a little while, so we wanted to re-introduce ourselves. Friends of Swift is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that raises funds to support, enhance, and build the school community at George B. Swift Specialty School. You can support our work here and simply reply to this email if you would like to get involved with Friends of Swift!

UPCOMING EVENTS



 
Friends of Swift will be hosting a Fall Potluck on this coming Friday, September 22, 2023 at 2-4 PM at Swift! There will be music, food, and great company. Please sign up to help!

We can't wait to see everyone there!

UPDATES
As you all know, the new school year has begun! Our families, teachers, staff, and of course kids had lots of fun at the back-to-school bash on August 16.
Friends of Swift was pleased to support the bash by funding a bouncy castle for the event. We look forward to more community events and opportunities to support Swift.
Friends of Swift has also been helping to collect school supplies for all Swift students at the start of the year, as well as other critically needed items for our new refugee neighbors. Thank you to everyone who has lent support! For more information about how to help new arrivals specifically, see this resource from the 48th Ward office.
